June 22, 2011, was a sunny summer day. Then the evacuation sirens sounded. And North Dakota’s Souris River, fed to flood stage by heavy spring rains, overflowed its levees.
Much of the city of Minot was damaged or destroyed, including over 5,000 homes, businesses, and churches. Christ Lutheran Church was among them.
When the waters receded, the Mission Investment Fund helped survey the damage, then provided the resources for the church to rebuild right where it stood before, where the members of the congregation knew God wanted them to be.
